It’s been two years now since 276 girls were abducted from the Chibok girls secondary school in Borno north eastern Nigeria. The girls were taken from their dormitories at about 8 pm on the 14th of April 2014 while preparing for their senior secondary school examinations. The government was in denial for 19 days about the abduction claiming it was politically motivated to distract and put in bad light the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Bokoharam released a video supposedly recorded on Christmas Day 2015 but was never shown to the parents until recently according to reports. The video shows 15 of the abducted Chibok girls saying that they are all well referring to all those not included in the video. Some parents of the missing Chibok girls viewed the new video and identified some of their daughthers expressing grief and hope that they will be reunited again with their daughters.
