According to information from Ford South Africa, the company has initiated a safety recall of all Ford Kuga 1.6 Ecoboost after several reported incidence of engine fire mostly from the dashboard. Customers are to report to their ford dealers and customer service centers.
Ford South Africa sold an average of about 6300 models of which 40 caught fire on South African roads leaving one of his client Reshall jimmy allegedly dead in December 2015. The CEO of Ford South Africa Jeff Nemeth stated in a press conference that the death was not caused by the over heating engine problem with the Ford model. The family of the deceased alongside other concerned customers are planning a class action suit against Ford South Africa.
The South African competition commission says too little too late on the part of Ford South Africa since this issue has persisted for several years with the motor maker in constant denial.
