According to reports from the The Gambia, President Yahya Jammeh’s presidential jet is fueled and parked in the middle of the Tarmac with instructions to his South African pilot to be onstandby. Morocco and Nigeria offered the outgoing president conditional asylum in their countries if he accepts the election result and respect the wishes of the Gambian people as his tenure ends by the 19th of January and President elect Adama Barrow scheduled to be sworn in on the same day.
Arguably no military will reveal their plans ahead of an operation, however military analyst have said that the open plan and deployment of troops by the Ecomog is a show force. Also, reports from The Gambia said the inauguration of President elect Adama Barrow will go ahead tomorrow in line with the constitution at the independent stadium in Banjul. He will be escorted by security forces from Ecomog who are on standby at the Senegalese border and will move into The Gambia by midnight of today.
