The African continent is experiencing a continuous rise in the number of infections and deaths from COVID-19. North Africa is the worst hit followed by West Africa, Southern Africa, East Africa, and Central Africa.
Egypt is the first country to record over 5000 confirmed cases, Morocco with over 4000 cases and Algeria has recorded over 3000 cases also has the highest number of the death toll in Africa.
In West Africa, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast record above 1000 confirmed cases in each country.
South Africa has recorded almost 5000 cases in Southern Africa with fewer numbers recorded in neighboring Eswatini, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
East African states of Kenya Tanzania and Rwanda Have the highest recorded numbers of Covid-19 in that region while the Central African states of Cameroon and Congo-Kinshasa have the highest recorded numbers from that region.
The total confirmed cases in Africa stands at 34,800 with 11,333 recoveries and 1,523 deaths. Kingdom of Lesotho and Comoros Islands are yet to record a single case of Covid-19.
