Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria passed from COVID-19

The Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Mallam Abba Kyari passed on Friday the 17th of April in a Lagos hospital from Coronavirus related health complications. He tested positive for COVID-19 on the 23rd of March after he returned from a trip to Germany. The Presidency announced his passing through its Special Adviser on Media Femi Adesina.
Mallam Abba Kyari was perceived by many Nigerians to be the de facto president because of his influence within President Buhari’s cabinet. He will be buried according to Islamic rites. May his soul and those who have passed from this global pandemic rest peacefully.
